Douglas Adair Dickey, commonly known as Doug Dickey, is a former American football player and coach. He was born on June 24, 1932, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dickey played college football at the University of Florida as a quarterback and punter from 1951 to 1953.
After graduating from college, Dickey began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas and the University of Kentucky. He then became the head coach at the University of Tennessee from 1964 to 1969, leading the Volunteers to two conference championships.
Dickey later served as the head coach at the University of Florida from 1970 to 1978, where he compiled a record of 58-43-2. He also held positions as an athletic director at the University of Tennessee and the University of Florida.
Overall, Doug Dickey has had a successful career in college football as both a player and coach, and he is well-respected in the sport.
